Socialite and sociopolitical activist, Efia Odo has called out the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over the persistent increase in the Cedi – Dollar exchange rate. She quotes the economic academic on what he said during his quest for power.
Unarguably, Bawumia was very instrumental in the course that sent the National Democratic Congress into opposition. He mounted pressure on the John Mahama governance that it opened the eyes of the ordinary citizen, even those that seemed indifferent to politics to see the rot in the political spheres of the nation.
That earned him a series of accolades in Economics. One of his famous statements that rendered the NDC naked was “If the fundamentals are weak the exchange rate will expose you.” This was a jab at John Mahama.
Then, the Cedi and the Dollar had a wide gap to the disadvantage of Ghanaians.
Efia Odo is referring the Vice President to his ow quote. He has choked on his own words. According to her, what he said was true in the past, and it’s true in present-day Ghana as well.
Upon quoting him, she added that “That was true then and it’s true now – VP Bawumia $1 is now 6.1 Ghana cedis, who’s being exposed now?”
The controversial, outspoken celebrity says the Vice President has exposed himself now. In fact, Ghanaians who once hailed him for his in-depth economic analysis and knowledge now call the academic a liar. A section of the populace believes that all the accusations he laid against the Mahama government were lies – mostly. They were just antics to buy his government power.
Efia Odo’s expression, as usual, has set social media uproar. Interestingly, the supporters of the two giant political parties – NDC and NPP engage in debates. As of now, the Vice President is trending on Twitter for the apparent reason.
