President Akufo-Addo has appointed popular musician Obuor as the new Managing Director for Ghana Post Company Limited. Born Bice Osei Kuffuor, the new MD is to see to the expansion of the company’s postal network to viable areas as well as improving its service to non-viable areas.
Also, he is to ensure improvement in mail security, and towards all other postal services including the traditional ones. The Ghana Post has rolled out series of innovation welcoming significant growth. This is where the new MD is stepping in to endure that the company carries out these services efficiently.
As part of the government’s initiative in building a digital Ghana, the company didn’t lag behind. In fact, it is making use of the government’s digital address system to enhance its delivery of services. It has made the delivery of mails and parcels easier. Obour as part of his roles has to ensure the company’s coverage extends all areas.
Currently, people can access delivery service at any time and at anywhere, thus 24/7.
As of now, it runs 5 main services. They are postal services, courier services, financial services, ecommerce and GhanaPostGPS.
In detail, the financial services oversee all financial services rendered by Ghana Post. These include domestic and foreign Remittances. The foreign money transfer services include: Western Union Money Transfer, Express Fund, and Cash for Africa.
The Ecommerce is for online transactions, filling online forms and for the sale of institutional forms. The World Bank service heavily supports this initiative through the Ministry of Communications, under the e-transform project.
On the other hand, GhanaPostGPS is Ghana’s official digital property addressing system. It covers every inch of the country and ensures the addressing of all locations in the country.
Ghana Post was incorporated by an Act of Parliament, Act 505 in August 1995 thereby formally separating it from Ghana Telecom Company.
By this Act of incorporation, the corporation was expected to operate on sound commercial lines, and to be self-supporting.
In showing gratitude to the overlord of the nation, Bice Osei Kuffuor took to his timeline to share a biblical verse.
