Presbyterian Boys Secondary School is crowned the winner for the 2020 National Science and Maths quiz after beating Opoku Ware and Adisadel College in the grand finale held today, Thursday 8 October.
PRESEC won with just 5 marks interval. Thus, they had 36, Adisadel had 31 and 21 for Opoku Ware. The victory sees the winning school as a six times winner.
The 2020 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) started with over 400 schools competing at the regional level. However, 108 out of the number qualified to the Preliminary Stage of the National Championship. From this number, 54 of them transcended to the One-eighth Stage to compete with the 27 seeded schools. One contest after another, some schools exited the competition, while others trod on. Eventually, we have come to the end of NSMQ 2020.
The sponsors of the competition scheme were all set to reward the contestants in the grand finale of the NSMQ2020. Goil Riddle Bonanza by Goil is set to reward all the finale contestants.
Moreover, Money Zone, sponsored by Absa Bank Ghana Limited, will also be available this year, with an increase in prize value. The final scores of the schools would be multiplied by GH¢10.00, GH¢15.00 and GH¢25.00 as prize money from the Quarterfinal, Semifinal and Final stages respectively and paid to each of the four-team members.
In addition, the NSMQ Star, sponsored by Prudential Life Insurance, will also continue this year, to reward schools that make a perfect score of 10 in the Problem of the Day, from the Preliminary to the Final stages of the competition.
