Alliance for Footsoldiers Advocacy (AFFA) in a letter circulating on social is urging the government to make a u-turn on the appointment of broadcast journalist, Abeiku Santana as the ambassador of the Covid-19 National Trust Fund.
According to AFFA, the journalist born Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey is a failed parliamentary aspirant for the National Democratic Congress (NDC). They questioned the basis for Abeiku Santana’s appointment even though they say the board is apolitical.
AFFA admonished the government that despite the urgency for which an appointment is needed, they should be wary of dubious and selfish characters wandering around power.
The letter stated emphatically that AFFA believes the person fit for the role should be an NPP member; someone who believe and share in the vision of the Nana Akufo-Addo-led government.
As a matter of fact, most NPP members have equally shared their displeasure on social media. According to them, Samini, Kalybos, Prince David Osei, Bismark the Joke and some well-known NPP celebrities fit for this role. In fact, these celebrities were the face of the 2020 elections. They even attracted insults for not supporting their colleague John Dumelo was an opposition.
However, some say Abeiku Santana doesn’t fit, not even an inch closer to the title. They believe the government appointed him because of his relationship with the Despite Group. Thus, Dr Ernest Ofori Sarpong, a brother to Osei Kwame Despite, the owner of the Despite Group where Abeiku works is among the trustees of the board.
