Avid politician and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has cleared the air on his stance on the claims that he has endorsed the potential flagbearer, Alan Kyeremanteng.
According to him, he has not thrown his support behind the Minister for Trade. In fact, he has not endorsed any candidate, therefore, the public should refrain from such rumours. After all, he also equally fit as a flagbearer for the party for the 2024 polls.
The MP referred to the issue as cheap propaganda and will not say what they want to hear. In his words, he said “they want to talk but I will not give them what they want to hear. Am I not also competent to contest?”
Kennedy Agyapong advised that those that want to support Alan ‘Cash’ can do so, and those that want to go for Dr Bawumia can also do so. However, he expressed that these supporters are disintegrating the party. Therefore, it would be appropriate if they take caution and desist from the act. He said that because he feels their act can destroy the party.
Alan Kyeremanteng, the Trade Minister has contested as the party’s flagbearer for a long time. In almost all cases, he and Nana Addo appear as the two spearheads. Unfortunately, he has always been beaten anyway. So while Nana Addo’s is ending his presidential role forever for exhausting all his two terms in office, some believe Alan should be the automatic replacement.
Most of the young generations in the NPP are inclined to support Bawumia following the initiatives he made that earn the seat for the current administration, thus in 2016. However, Mr Kyeremanteng made a name in politics even during ex-President Kuffour’s era. Automatically, he has a special niche of supporters for himself as well.
