There are reports that the military has unconstitutionally taken over the political administration of Guinea in West Africa. This has sparked waves on the internet because people thought military coup is a thing of the past.

The special forces unit has arrested President Alpha Condé and has dissolved all the state institutions. To make it worse, they have paused public broadcasting as well. So media houses can’t capture and share to the world the current state of the country.

The military broadcasted on live national television that they have dissolved the constitution and the government of the country. In addition to these, they have also succeeded in blocking all borders in and out of Guinea. This includes airports and land borders.

However, the defence minister of the embattled West African country has said otherwise.

According to Sheikh Omar Faye the Defence minister, even though there were attacks by the military at the presidential palace but they have been put down.

On Sunday morning, heavy gunfire broke out near the presidential palace in Conakry. Reports have it that the gunfire was a calculated result of an elite military led by former French legionnaire, Mamady Doumbouya.

The fate of Alpha Conde is a mystery now. The President of Guinea was in an unverified video, handcuffed and surrounded by soldiers. The military staging the coup has revealed that the president is corrupt, and to them, the people of Guinea are suffering due to poverty because of corrupt leaders.

A military source has alsorevealed that the military has sealed off the only bridge that connects the mainland to the Kaloum peninsular. The peninsular houses most ministries and the presidential palace. The source also reported that many heavily armed soldiers have been posted around the palace.

Meanwhile, there are reports that three soldiers are dead. Guinea re-elected President Conde for a controversial 3rd term with an election conveyed by heavy protests in 2020.
