It went viral yesterday that a final year student of Jachie Pramso SHS (JAPASS) has received unimaginable beatings from her headmaster. As of now, the female student fears the incident may affect her performance for the ongoing West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
The 19-year-old Mary spoke on a GhanAkoma, a show on Akoma FM that her headmaster lashed her with a cane without any reason.
Lamenting on the circumstances that happened prior to her ordeal, Mary explained that it all started in the classroom. The headmaster sacked a male student who was not wearing a school uniform to go back to the dormitory and change. However, he seized the student’s unprescribed attire. Thus, the overlord of the school sacked him to go to the dormitory without clothes.
As a good Samaritan, Mary gave him her jacket and that’s the conduct that provoked the headmaster. According to her, right there, the head asked her to go and wait for him in his office.
Later on, the headmaster met her there and whipped her mercilessly.
The result is severe bruises at the back of the young lady, a situation most people are calling abuse. Currently, Mary has revealed that she feels a sharp pain in her spine. This has made sitting almost impossible for her. Apparently, it will harm her academics as they are writing final exams period.
“Now I can’t even concentrate and learn because I’ve been traumatized, I have not been able to go to campus since the incident happened and I’m scared it might affect me.” She lamented.
Ghana Education Service has interdicted the headmaster pending investigations into the alleged caning of a student. GES has asked Mr Francis Donkor to hand over the school to the Ashanti Regional Director of Education. As a matter of urgency, this takes effect on 7th September 2021. This has been put in place so authorities can carry out investigations about the allegation.
