    rolls royce

Nigerian renowned lawyer and author, Reno Omokri has urged pastors to sell their Rolls Royce to cater for the poor and the needy. According to him, it’s a mockery when unbelievers are even generous than those who claim to have Christ.

The Christian and human rights activist stated that it’s quite unreasonable for pastors to live in glamour and luxury when their members are poverty-stricken.

“As preachers and teachers of the Word of God, let us learn from a recent happening. Rather than you driving a Rolls Royce as a pastor of a church with desperately poor people, take a cue from a young unreligious, but a loving man with much milk of human kindness. Sell your Rolls Royce and feed orphans and widows! Remember what Christ told the rich young man?”

Reno Omokri supported his call for action with a scripture from the Bible.

“If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven.”-Matthew 19:21.”

However, per his expression, he didn’t mean pastors should not enjoy. Thus, he doesn’t belong to the old school of thought that sees Christianity as a culture for poor people. These people believe luxury is for the wicked and sinners but a godly person should be poor. No, that’s not what the Buhari antagonist meant.

“I am not saying you should not drive a luxurious car, or that you should not enjoy. I am just saying that it does not speak well of us when a young man, who lives a life that many religious people frown on, displays more Christlike character than we that are ‘holier’ than him!” He added.

With how wealthy pastors are indifferent about the afflictions of their members, Omokri expressed he’s nonplussed. After all, the Bible has said it.

“No wonder Christ said “tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you”-Matthew 21:31.”

Most African pastors are extravagant. They have countless luxurious properties. Meanwhile, they have destitute members – very poor that some can’t afford basic necessities in life. Some have a number of private jets and expensive cars that can change the destinies of their members.

Because of this, Christianity has lost its value in this modern-day. Unbelievers believe that believers are not rational. Thus, they can’t fathom why they give their monies to pastors who care less about their wellbeing.
