Teacher and Comedian Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Teacher Kwadwo has been sacked by his employer, the Ghana Education Service. Apparently, it’s due to the criticisms he unleashed onto the agency.

The loving teacher, having a large following on social media took on consequent occasions, deplorable structures and inadequacies of school buildings in Ghana. He pressured the agency and the government to do the needful. In fact, his exposes made the agency and the government unpopular.

In August this year, the GES summoned the teacher over what they call professional misconduct. He appeared before Akrofuom District Education Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 11:00 am to answer questions.

Three months ago, there were rumours that the government has ordered GES to suspend Teacher Kwadwo. The update triggered a massive uproar on social media.

However, some also ask why he is still with the employer if he says the institution isn’t performing. He explained that the GHS 1,500 salary is nothing to him. Therefore, he is just in to be the mouthpiece for many for the betterment of the service.

“That is the reason why I still keep fighting because I have realized that most teachers are either SCARED to talk or they don’t have many audiences.”

Today, Teacher Kwadwo has shared that GES has fired him. However, for professional reasons, he won’t bring to light the content of the letter. They give it to him yesterday December 17. Meanwhile, the date on it was October 27, 2021.

“The SACKING letter that was given to me yesterday is dated “27th October 2021”. Abeg what was yesterday’s date?”
Thus, the GES has sacked him a long time ago but was just looking for a suitable time to actualize it.

Teacher Kwadwo, who describes himself as the GES’ Kevin Taylor has promised he won’t let this slide. According to him, this would be the first Teacher and GES fight in the history of the country.

Due to his social media outbursts about the ills in the agency, his school benefited from benevolence. Reacting to the dismissal, he has promised to take away all the computers and items the school received.
