touch it

American rap superstar, Micheal Ray Nguyen-Stevenson, popularly known as Tyga is the latest to groove to Kidi’s hit Touch It. Interestingly, he sang along as he changed some of the lyrics.

Going global is the dream of every artist. In actualizing this dream, collaborations with other acts from different countries help a lot. And yes, when you get someone who is already there to endorse your craft, it gives you a larger audience with the awareness it creates.

Touch It has incredibly, done amazing things for Kidi.

Even though the Highlife star has a lot of hits such as Mon Bebe, Say Cheese and others, they all don’t come close to Touch It. Released about seven months ago, it has garnered over 15 million views on Youtube alone. It is a tune from the Golden Boy album.

The song nearly got him the Vodafone Ghana Music Award’s Artist of the Year plaque. Well, some industry’s players raised concerns that there are some lines in the song that are erotic. Therefore, they called for it ban. It didn’t yield any result anyway.

Most of the time, when superstars groove to the music of others, music lovers anticipate a collaboration. Sometimes too, they see it as an endorsement of a fine piece of art or the act in general.

A similar circumstance is the Black Sherif and Burna Boy experience. Upon listening and admiring the former’s Second Sermon, the latter did a remix with him.

The multiple Grammy Award winner earned maximum respect from Ghanaians. They believed he just wanted to propel the fast-rising star onto higher grounds.

So, with Tyga admiring Kidi’s Touch It, people are speculating the two could get along and possibly collaborate.

As a matter of fact, that would be the highest collaboration ‘Sugar Daddy’ has ever made. However, that wouldn’t be the first time Kidi is collaborating with an American star. Last year, he recruited Teddy Riley for the remix of Say Cheese.

Meanwhile, Kidi together with Kuami Eugene are currently preparing to fill up the O2 Arena next year. The duo, often teased Aki and Pawpaw are performing in London on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Yeah, thus, an Independent Day in Ghana.
